Nejma Award-Winning Professional Bellydance Artist in South Florida
Nejma is an award-winning professional belly dance artist, instructor, and is a member of The International Dance Council , CID. In 2022 became a certified SharQui Belly dance Fitness instructor.
She began her belly dance training in 2006 at Miami-Dade College Kendall Campus (MDC), her first performance was in 2007 at the annual MDC show. In 2008, with a desire to learn more about Middle Eastern dance, its history, and culture; Nejma enrolled in the Middle Eastern Culture & Arts program offered by MDC Kendall Campus. There she studied with International Instructor & Director, Samay, and performed in several theater shows directed by Samay MidEastern Performing Arts Company.
In 2012, Nejma discovered International Master Instructor Maria Jammal at MDC Kendall Campus and fell in love with her energy and style. That same year she auditioned and became a member of Maria’s belly dance company, Almaas of South Florida. To continue her training, Nejma completed Maria Jammal’s Teacher Certification Program in 2013 and began teaching a kids Bellydance class at the Goddess Store and Studio in Hollywood, FL. For this, Nejma received the Best of 2013 for Children’s Bellydance from the City of Hollywood, Florida.
Nejma has since brought her talents to the South Florida stage to perform as a soloist; performing in shows such as, Shimmy for a Cause, Joharah International, 2013 Miami Bellydance Convention, 2015 Art of belly dance showcase in Ft. Pierce, FL., and Yaa Halla Y’all in Texas, as well as other community events. She was a finalist for Rising Star competition for 2015 Miami Bellydance Convention.
In 2019 Nejma performed in a theatrical production "Nectar" directed by Moria Chappell at River City Raqs in Jacksonville, Florida. She as also was part of South Florida Dance Collective directed by Arielle Tyson and performed at Middle Eastern Mosaic at Scottish Rite Temple in Miami, Florida. In 2021 she performed with Shimmy Connection directed by Bea Azahar performed at the Weston World Fest Drive-thru as well as 2022 Weston World Fest sponsored by the City of Weston & Arts Council of Greater Weston.
Nejma continues her lifelong quest to perfect her craft by training with world renowned instructors such as: Ahmed Hussien, Vanessa of Cairo, Jillina , Bozenka, Aziza of Canada, Oxana, Enab Hasan & Nesrin Bahaa, Ozgen, Soraia Zaied, Jihan Jamal, Roshana Nofret, Valerick Molinary, Dr. Mo Geddawi, Lubna, Nourhan Sharif, Victoria Teal, Petite Jamila, Mohamed Kazafy, Randa Kamel, Maria Jammal, Sadie and many more. Through all these instructors Nejma has continued to appreciate and love this beautiful art form.
With over a decade immersed in Middle Eastern dance, Nejma teaches regular classes in the South Florida area. It is Nejma’s goal to maintain the authenticity of Middle Eastern Dance by educating her audience and students
